Overwatch 2 is Going Free to Play
If you’re an Overwatch fan then you’ll be delighted to hear that Overwatch 2, will be launching on October 4 with a free-to-play model.
Players will be able to join and take part in a Overwatch 2’s persistent, always-evolving live service game on Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5, and Nintendo Switch consoles.
Overwatch 2 will release in just a few short months and in addition to a new PvP experience, heroes, and maps, players will also be introduced to a new free-to-play model.
Blizzard believes that Overwatch 2 and the upcoming changes will be be a can’t miss opportunity that is unrivaled since the launch of Overwatch.
Behind the plan to migrate to a free-to-play model is the ideology that the game should be shared with everyone, as the fervent Overwatch community is a major selling point to the game.
That’s why the shift to free-to-play has been made to allow more people to join in on the fun by removing the cost of entry.
