Phil Mickelson’s Dreadful US Open Week
Phil Mickelson was frantic for some business as usual. However little felt typical for him in the U.S. Open at The Country Club during 7 days that finished rashly Friday with an inelegant missed cut.
It was Mickelson's 31st U.S. Open beginning and just the fifth time he has neglected to make the end of the week.
These have been tempestuous times for Mickelson, who commended his 52nd birthday on Thursday by shooting a 8-north of 78 in the main round to basically ensure he would miss the cut.
It didn't get much better Friday in that frame of mind round and he quit the competition with a 3-more than 73 to complete his two-day stay at 11-over, light years from the cutline.
Mickelson’s week began with an awkward 25-minute pretournament press conference on Monday.
His week ended with him leaving the course in a courtesy car shortly before 2 p.m. Friday with half the field still on the golf course.
