"This golf course is an absolute beast," Zalatoris said. "You look at the major champions who are on that leaderboard, it's going to be no small test (Sunday)."
Zalatoris shot 3-under standard 67 on Saturday to share the lead through three rounds, placing the youthful golf player in dispute at one more significant title.
He's joined at the top by Matt Fitzpatrick of England at 4-under 206 at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. Fitzpatrick shot 68 in the third round.
Reigning champ Jon Rahm seemed to be ready to hold the third-round lead until a twofold intruder 6 on the last opening, unfit to escape a sand shelter that turned expensive.
