Freida Pinto Opens Up On Her Postpartum Journey
Freida Pinto is talking about how hard it was for her after the birth of her son Rumi-Ray, whom she had with husband Cory Tran.
In this week's issue of PEOPLE, out now, the 37-year-old star of "Slumdog Millionaire" says that while she loves being a mom to her 8-month-old son Rumi-Ray, it wasn't easy for her after giving birth.
"The hormones plummeting, the mood swings, the sleep deprivation — it was all very real," she says.
"And the hardest part was breastfeeding and my toes would curl when I knew my son was hungry because of the pain I would experience with his bad latch. I'm very proud I stuck with it."
Pinto, whose son she shares with her husband Cory, talks about how important it is to be ready for the time after giving birth and to plan for a "postpartum sanctuary."
"In my culture, it is customary for a mother to be taken care of for the first 30 or 40 days, and the mother and baby never left alone to just figure it out," she explains.
