Netflix announces ‘Stranger Things’ spin-off & stage play
Reuters reported on Wednesday that Netflix Inc. is making a spin-off of Stranger Things as part of its plan to turn its biggest English-language hit into a wide entertainment franchise.
Netflix said in a statement that the new show will be based on an original idea from the same twins who made Stranger Things. No information was given about the story or the characters.
Netflix also announced a stage play set in the world of Stranger Things.
The supernatural thriller starring Winona Ryder and David Harbour has broken Netflix's viewing records.
It is now the company's most-watched English-language show, beating out the Regency-era drama Bridgerton.
Stranger Things changed the cultural mood when it came out in 2016, and Millie Bobby Brown, who was 12 at the time, became a global star.
