Johnny Depp returning to film as King Louis XV

Johnny Depp is rumoured to be getting back into movies after winning a defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard. His next movie is set to be co-funded and streamed by Netflix.

Reports say that Netflix will help pay for the French historical film "La Favorite," in which Depp will play King Louis XV.

The movie, which was made by Maiwenn Le Besco and will be shown in French theatres in 2023, will be on Netflix France 15 months later. It's not clear if the movie will be on Netflix everywhere or not.

La Favorite will be Johnny Depp's first movie role since his ex-wife accused him of domestic violence and Hollywood turned its back on the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

The handsome Hollywood star hasn't been in a movie since 2020, and this will be the first time he's played a role in French.

The Figaro newspaper says it will be shot over three months this summer in places like the castle of Versailles. Madame du Barry, Louis XV's well-known mistress, will be played by Le Besco. She has made movies like "Polisse" and "Mon Roi," which were praised by critics.
