Maren Morris defends her Playboy photo shoot
Maren Morris is celebrating the way she shows off "country female sexuality" ahead of her next album release.
The country music star, 31, reflected on her 2019 Playboy photo shoot in the caption of a topless Instagram photo posted Friday, shutting down comments from critics.
"Before I go into the next album era, I did @playboy in 2019 and got a lot of hate at the time,...
...but I’m the proudest that I showed country female sexuality in its (realest) form here," Morris wrote.
"We are nuanced, we are messy and stretch-marked in the most beautiful way. Don’t sleep on us. We tell your down home stories in the most unflinching, gorgeous lane."
Morris posed for the summer 2019 "Gender and Sexuality" issue of Playboy, in which she appeared topless, wearing red pants, cowhide cowboy boots and a cowboy hat.
Her photos were met with some criticism online from commenters who said she would "lose respect" from fans and that there was "no need to expose" herself to the world.
"The thing about me is I make music for myself," Morris responded to them in an Instagram Story at the time.
