Winter storm warning issued for Kansas City area

Gradual accumulation runs Wednesday night into Friday morning.

Yet another winter snowstorm is approaching the Kansas City area with the potential to drop several inches of snow across the region and mess travel up through the end of the workweek.

A winter storm warning has been issued for the Kansas City metro, and most of the region, starting 9 p.m. Wednesday night and running through 6 a.m. Friday.

First Alert Meteorologist Nick Bender said long-lasting light-to-moderate snow will bring several inches of accumulations to our area....

...with the bulk of the snow falling overnight Wednesday into Thursday mid-morning.

Drier air will likely bring an end to the light snow in Kansas City around midnight Friday, but snow will likely continue south and east of the metro through 6 a.m. Friday.

Visibility and blowing snow are expected to be hazardous, especially between the hours of 6 a.m. and noon Thursday.
